Police arrest 43 at rival London marches led by Tommy Robinson and pro-Palestinian protesters

The Metropolitan police said 43 people were arrested at competing London marches, including Tommy Robinson’s Unite the Kingdom rally and a pro-Palestinian protest.

1

The rally in London drew an estimated 60,000 people, far fewer than the million-plus organizers had hoped for and well below the turnout for a similar event last September.

2

The said it made 43 arrests across the day’s protests, including 20 at the Robinson-linked rally and 12 at the , while describing both events as largely orderly.

3

Police said several of the arrests at the Robinson rally involved alleged s, including abuse directed at officers, and the force also reported assaults on five officers, none serious enough for hospital treatment.

4

At the pro-Palestinian demonstration, arrests included a sign reading “Globalise the intifada,” a sign backing , and another reading “We will not surrender, victory or martyrdom,” while police reviewed additional material for possible anti-Jewish offenses.

5

The report described the rally as part of a campaign that mixed national identity themes with Christian imagery, while organizers and police disputed the size and political character of the crowd.

What position do you feel closer to?

Tommy Robinson supporters

The arrests show heavy-handed, two-tier policing against Tommy Robinson supporters while downplaying the scale of extremism and hate emerging from pro-Palestinian crowds.

Pro-Palestinian protesters

The arrests highlight a double standard where anti-Palestinian agitators are enabled while Palestine solidarity is met with heavy-handed policing.
