Italy and Gennaro Gattuso terminate contract after failure to reach World Cup

The national team's failure to qualify for the FIFA World Cup came in the play-off match against Bosnia-Herzegovina, later decided by penalty kicks with a result favorable to the opponents.

Institutional consequences included the resignation of the president of the FIGC, Gabriele Gravina, and the departure of managerial figures such as Gianluigi Buffon from the delegation.

The federation will now seek a new head coach and will evaluate profiles with experience in Serie A and at the international level, including various candidate coaches mentioned by the press.
